Agents

What do the agents do, and what may they not do?

Agents read the same views as people, notice what needs attention and propose an action with its evidence. A person decides, and the decision is recorded; agents never move money.

Fig. 8.1 — agents read and propose, a person decides, the platform records; then the agents read again.
Read only
An agent reads views and writes only its own findings; it never moves money.
Evidence
Each finding links to the records it rests on and states a confidence; agents add to each other’s findings.
The right to decide
Accepting a proposal needs the right the proposal would use; an agent never lends a person a power.
Autonomy by policy
What agents may do alone is a policy of the unit; the demo group allows proposals only.

§ 2

In detail

2.1

Who watches what

Agents stand along the flow of payments, each at the stage it watches. They read the same views as the cabinets, notice what a person would want to know, and consult each other.

Each agent at the stage it watches; the number in each mark is what waits for a person now. Under the drawing, what each agent does and for which roles.

  • Sentinel

Watches attempts for fraud: card testing, sudden amounts, mismatched countries.

for: Risk and fraud · Online operations · Hierarchy administrator

  • Navigator

Replays the history of payments under each routing strategy, compares what every bank’s terms would cost, online and at the tills, and proposes a strategy, a terminal bank or an on-us clause to negotiate.

for: Payments manager: routing and costs · Hierarchy administrator · Online operations

  • Reconciler

Reconciles every settlement batch three ways — the merchant’s records, the provider’s report, the bank’s credit — and finds fees above the terms, missing reports and missing credits.

for: Finance controller: reconciliation · Online operations · Hierarchy administrator

  • Collector

Follows invoices to their due date and proposes reminders.

for: Online operations · Merchant owner

  • Analyst

Reads alerts and onboarding cases, drafts the narrative, proposes escalation or closure.

    for: Risk and fraud

  • Dispute clerk

Gathers evidence for disputes before the deadline: receipt, 3-D Secure, delivery.

    for: Online operations

  • Integration copilot

Reads webhook deliveries and API calls, explains failures, proposes fixes and retries.

    for: Integrator · Hierarchy administrator

2.2

The rule: agents propose, people decide, the platform records

  • An agent reads views and writes only its own findings. It never writes a fact of an order, an invoice, an attempt, a payment or a settlement.
  • Every finding carries its evidence — links to the facts it rests on — and a confidence; other agents add what they know.
  • Accepting a proposal needs the right to decide on agents and the right the proposal itself would use; an agent never lends a person a power they do not have.
  • What agents may do alone is a policy of the unit; nothing that touches money or a person’s standing is ever treated as low-risk.
  • A finding about a standing condition belongs to a series: found again, the newer finding replaces the open one; no longer found, the open one is closed.

Findings of the demo

A routing change that a person accepted, a claim waiting for the finance controller, and an alert of the fraud watch with its evidence.

Online routing: on-us first would cost less

Replaying the last 14 days: 387 card payments cost ₴8,297.55 in acquiring fees as routed (27 % on-us). Routed on-us first, the same payments would have cost ₴6,014.11, with 56 % on-us and an expected change in approvals of 0.5 pp — about ₴4,893.09 a month less.

2.4

Deterministic in the demo

In the demo each agent is a deterministic analyser standing in for a model: the same views always give the same findings, so every finding can be checked against its evidence. A model would take the same place — read views, write findings, propose — and would never be called inside the processing of a payment.
